After Shahid Afridi, Mashrafe Mortaza Tests Positive!

Recently, the former Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza tests positive for Coronavirus. He is the second renowned cricketer to be tested positive, after Shahid Afridi. Mortaza has been unwell for the last few days and on Friday, he has been tested positive for the highly contagious disease.

The cricketer is currently home-quarantined and ongoing treatment for the disease. “He has been suffering from fever for two days. COVID-19 test was conducted on Friday and we got the result today. He has been found positive. He’s now staying in isolation at home in Dhaka. Please pray for him,” Masrhafe’s younger brother Morsalin Bin Mortaza told United News of Bangladesh (UNB).

Earlier there was news which said his family had been reported positive of the disease. 

The 34-year-old cricketer is a member of the parliament and had led a very active part during his pandemic. Through his philanthropic activities, the batsman helped numerous native people amongst the crucial time. 

Other Bangladeshi Cricketers affected

Besides Mortaza and Afridi, former Bangladeshi cricketer Nafees Iqbal had also tested positive for the disease. He had earlier reported to the local media about his infection. He is currently in home isolation in his home, Chittagong.

Nafees is the elder brother of ODI Captain Tamim Iqbal and debuted in the national cricket in 2003. After 2006 he was out of cricket.

He had played about 11 Tests and 16 ODI’s for Bangladesh and scored 518 and 309 runs. Ashiqur Rahman, Bangladesh’s development coach had earlier tested positive of the disease.

The deadly covid19 virus had infected about 1, 00, 000 people in Bangladesh. Earlier, three other cricketers- Afridi, Zafar Sarfaraz and Taufeeq Umar had tested positive and now Mashrafe Mortaza tests positive.
