Annual Player Retainership For The 2020-21 Season Announced For Team India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Annual Player Contracts for Team India (Senior Men) for 2020-21.

On Thursday, the board has announced this for the period from October 2020 to September 2021. Meanwhile, the entire payment structures have been divided into four categories where the Grade A+ contract earning players will get ₹7 crore, Grade A earning players will get ₹5 crore, Grade B earning players will get ₹3 crore, and Grade C earning players will get ₹1 crore as well in the mentioned time period.

28 Team India players have been awarded the central contracts. It is also noteworthy that, India captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Rohit Sharma, and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah have been retained in the A+ category list. Meanwhile, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have been placed under Grade A contract as well.

As far as the Grade B contract is concerned, wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, speedsters Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshar Kumar, and Shardul Thakur and opener Mayank Agarwal has been placed. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj have been placed under Group C.

Notably, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj have earned the Grade C contract along with Axar Patel whereas all-rounder Kedar Jadhav and Manish Pandey – the two Grade C white-ball players have not been included in the central contract now. India’s spin-duo – Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have moved down in the contract of Grade C as well.
