After Ashwin’s mankading controversy, IPL witnessed another controversy last night. It was none other than the cool MS Dhoni. Dhoni stormed into the field from the dugout to confront the umpires on a no-ball call furiously, that costs him 50% match fees penalty.
On the 25th match of VIVO IPL 2019, Rajasthan Royals was hosting Chennai Super Kings at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur. On the nail-biting last over, Stokes delivered a ball little higher than Santner’s waist, for which the umpires didn’t award a no-ball to CSK. On that occasion, Dhoni lost his coolness and stormed into the field to confront both the umpires. This is against the code of conduct of IPL. As a result, the match referee fined him 50% match fees.
According to Michael Vaughan, this thing is not good for cricket. A captain is not allowed to go inside the field at any condition when the match is going on, whether it’s MS Dhoni also.
MS Dhoni has admitted a level 2 offense and accepted the penalty amount to be paid.
IPL needs to bring transparency
It is a big concern in this IPL that, umpires are not able to do the fair decision. They are committing lots of mistakes due to which the match results are getting changed. Indian skipper Virat Kohli also urged the same error while they were playing against Mumbai Indians. Lasitha Malinga was seen crossing the line, but the umpire denied to award a no-ball, due to which RCB lost the match.
If this type of mistakes will continue then the faith of players on IPL will vanish very soon. IPL core committee should emphasize these grounds to make transparency in the league.
Anyway, after a lot of drama in last over, CSK won the match against RR and still maintaining the top spot on the point table. RR suffered another loss, and they are just ahead of RCB by winning only a match.
RR vs CSK Match Coverage
RR had a good start in batting. Both Rahane and Buttler started assaulting CSK’s bowler, but Deepak Chahar sent Rahane to the pavilion and brought the first wicket for CSK. Then Shardul Thakur took Buttler. After that RR’s innings had gone slower. Steve Smith and Ben Stokes were seen very slowly, but they need to hit hard.
On the other hand, CSK had lost its four crucial wickets early. One time they were at 24-4. But Dhoni and Rayudu had a good partnership of 95 runs to survive CSK from a humility. Rayudu could score 57 runs on 47 balls, whereas Dhoni scored 58 runs on 43 balls.
The last over of the match was very crucial. CSK needed 18 runs in 6 balls, and Stokes gave 21 runs by giving two extra deliveries as a wide ball and a no-ball. Another no-ball was not awarded by the umpire, and it took some heat by captain cool Dhoni.
