India is hosting a home Test series after a long gap of a year and a half. The India vs England Test Series is all set to start in a bio bubble within closed doors and multiple rounds of COVID-19 testing. The first two matches of Ind vs Eng 2021 schedule will be held in Chennai and the next two is decided to be played in Ahmedabad.
Both the teams are scheduled to reach Chennai on January 27 and the series starts on February 5. Both the teams will be placed in the same hotel where they will be kept in a bio-bubble environment given the current COVID-19 situation.
Why the series is important
After the grand win against Australia, India is all set to clash against the mighty team of England and win the series. This much-awaited series is crucial for both the teams, especially India as it will place them in the top-two nations of the ICC World Test Championship League. Though the Indian team is currently at number one spot they will need to score at least 2-0 which will ensure they stay ahead of New Zealand and enter the final game at the Lord’s. Similarly, England has won the Test series against Sri Lanka and needs to score at least 3-0 to enter the ICC World Test Championship at Lord’s.
