Ishan Kishan suffered an injury which is why he was out of the playing XI.
Former India player and famous commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar has recently shared that India may not change their winning combination for the fifth and final T20I match which will decide the winner of the T20I series between India and England in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
And, he also feels that the Indian team management will support KL Rahul instead of the youngster Ishan Kishan even if he becomes a match-fit. Rahul has been going through a rough patch in the series and in three matches he could not reach the double digits as well. Moreover, he has three ducks in his last five T20I innings too.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan smashed a blistering fifty (56 runs off just 32 balls) on his debut in the second match and was awarded the Player of the Match. However, he was out of the last match due to a groin injury.
“I would love to have Ishan Kishan back” – Sanjay Manjrekar
“It gets a bit tricky now considering that this is a game both teams desperately want to win. I would love to have Ishan Kishan back if the niggle is out of the way but let’s see how it goes. I have a feeling Ishan Kishan may not play, which is unfortunate, and that niggle may have also helped the India team out because they want to keep backing KL Rahul. They want to give KL Rahul a long rope. He gets another game and they tell him that because you’re out of form and you’re a class player, you’ll get another game,” Manjrekar said.
However, he again shared that India will not experiment much in their combination for the decider. Even, they have been playing with an extra batsman throughout the series and they wouldn’t give the chance to the players like Tewatia or Deepak Chahar in the crucial game.
“I think they are okay for the moment. You might think they are a bit batting heavy because very often they have not used all their batting because Washington Sundar is a batsman worth the salt in T20 cricket. I don’t see India making any changes with regards to the quantity of bowlers. Maybe, they will have a look at Washington Sundar and the pitch being the way it is and if they bowl again in the second half of the game, they might think of somebody like a Tewatia,” he concluded
Both the teams – India and England are at 2-2 with the final taking place on March 20 in Ahmedabad as well. After that, they will play a three-match ODI series in Pune.
