The 2021 season of the Indian Premier League is all set to start from April 9 and the Captain Cool, Mahinder Singh Dhoni is all set to make his come back as the Chennai Super Kings Captain. “The CSK players completed their quarantine requirements and began practice yesterday. Gradually, the others will join the camp after a period of quarantine,” CSK CEO K Viswanathan Reddy had stated.

Why There’s Pressure

The three-times champion team has plenty of pressure on them as the 2020 season was somewhat unsuccessful for the team. For the first time in IPL history, the Dhoni-led team had failed to enter the playoffs. The team ended being at the 7th position.

Along with Dhoni, the other CSK players who had joined the training sessions are Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu. Young players like N Jagadeesan, R Sai Kishore, C Hari Nishaanth, and Harishankar Reddy have also joined.

Though the tournament has returned to India after hosting its last season in Abu Dhabi, all six teams will have to play the matches at neutral venues. Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad will host the games this year. The tournament finale and the playoffs will be hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

‘Thala’ Returns!

Recently, the CSK team has shared a video that features Dhoni hitting sixes while practising at the camp in Chennai.
