Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the Pakistan World Cup team. The sectors have announced the squad on the same day of Sri Lanka World Cup squad announcement. Surprisingly, PCB has removed Mohammad Amir from the squad.
Amir is not in Pakistan World Cup Team
Mohammad Amir was the man who knocked out India in ICC Champions trophy 2017. After that, he has played 14 ODI matches and could take only four wickets. But the selecting committee can change the squad till May 23. The 27-year left-arm fast bowler has missed the 2011 and 2015 World cup due to the suspension on match-fixing. Let’s see, if the management will rethink and add Amir to the 15-man Pakistan World Cup team.
Chief selector Inzamam Ul Haq has selected Mohammad Amir in the 17-man squad against England, just before the world cup. He has to perform at his best to impress the selectors before May 23. That is the only Amir can regain his spot in Pakistan world Cup Team.
Hafeez’s fitness concern
Mohammad Hafeez is selected in the World Cup Team subjected to his fitness. During PSL he has suffered from a fractured thumb injury. If he will fail to get fitness, the management has to select from the stand by player.
Youngster Fast bowler Mohammad Hosnain
PCB has selected a youngster fast bowler Mohammad Hosnain who was bowling at 150 kph during PSL. He can be a surprise package in ICC World Cup 2019. Hosnain played three ODI against Australia last month, and he took two wickets in three matches.
Another 29-year fast bowler Junaid Khan is preferred by the selectors over Mohammad Amir.
Abid Ali has impressed the selectors by scoring highest score for Pakistan on his debut match against Australia. He is selected as the opening batsman in Pakistan World Cup Team. Along with him, the selectors have shown their interest in Imam Ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman as the opening batsmen. Abid Ali has already passed the fitness test before the World Cup team announcement. He was one of the stars for hitting hard in PSL.
Middle order batsmen
PCB has selected the veteran Shoaib Malik to lead their middle order batting line up. The skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed will also take care of middle order batting along with Haris Sohail.
PCB has shown their faith on Shahbad Khan, Imad Wasim, and Faheem Ashraf as the all-rounder of the team.
Fast Bowlers of Pakistan World Cup Team
In bowling attack, they have chosen fast bowler Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi. Both the bowlers have a very good pace with the perfect line and length.
PCB has selected the players according to their performances in domestic and overseas after ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Still, some senior players have their last chance to prove themselves in a series with the home team England just before the ICC World Cup 2019.
