Prasidh Krishna and the all-rounder Krunal Pandya are likely to get the ODI call-up for India.
As India and England are playing the five-match T20I series, they will soon take on each other in the three-match ODI series in Pune. And, for this, Team India are likely to announce the team as well.
However, after the end of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, there are a few fresh faces that could be added in the 50-overs format for the first time as well. Meanwhile, Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna seems to have impressed the selectors with his 14 wickets in the tournament as well, according to a report in Cricbuzz.
However, there is a possibility that Krishna will accompany the likes of pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, and T Natarajan in the bowling department of India. Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, is likely to extend his leave after his marriage with Sanjana Ganesan, the sports presenter.
Krunal Pandya had a stunning season in the Vijay Hazare Trophy
On the other hand, Krunal Pandya had a stunning season and the selectors might love to give him a chance in the ODIs. He had scored two tons and two fifties as well.
But the highest run-getter of the tournament Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal may not get the chance now. With the presence of KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma, the chances are slim as of now. The three games will take place in Pune, on March, 23, 26 and 28 respectively.
However, there might not be any other changes in the ODI squad for India for the upcoming England series. Also, the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is not a match-fit to play, will remain in the outside as well.
On the other hand, after facing a series of low scores, India captain Virat Kohli returned in style with an unbeaten 49-ball 73. And after that, Kohli said he had a chat with the team management, his wife Anushka and also with AB de Villiers before the game and that helped him to score well.
Kohli got out for ducks in his last two international innings and his stunning knock on Sunday helped India chase down 165 with ease easy, along with the debutant Ishan Kishan’s fifty as well.
“I had to shift the focus back to the basics of the game. Probably thinking of too many variables from the outside. I always take pride in the fact that I do the job for the team, so happy I did that than that I got 70 odd,” he said at the post-match presentation.
“The management spoke to me about things. Anushka is here so she also keeps speaking to me about thinks. I had a special chat with AB de Villiers before the game. He told me just watch the ball. That’s exactly what I did,” he again shared.
