Prithvi Shaw slams 6 fours in an over as DC beats KKR

2 mins read :

Prithvi Shaw became the second batsman in IPL to score 6 fours in an over as he made a brilliant 82 off 41 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes to guide Delhi Capitals to an easy win over Kolkata Knight Riders at Ahmedabad on Thursday. Ajinkya Rahane was the first batsman in IPL to hit 6 fours in an over.

Chasing 155 for a win, Shaw tore into the first over of the innings, carting Shivam Mavi for 6 fours on both sides of the wicket to all but seal the match in DC’s favour. It was also the first time 6 fours were scored in the first over of a T20 innings.

Prithvi then raced to his fifty of just 18 balls – the fastest in IPL 2021 so far. He, along with Shikhar Dhawan (46), posted 132-run stand for the opening wicket before three wickets fell in quick succession. But by then, the win was inevitable. The win took DC to 2nd spot with 10 points, behind Chennai Super Kings, who are also on 10 points, but has better net run-rate.

Earlier, KKR struggled to get going, managing 74/3 by the half-way mark. It was only some lusty hitting by Andre Russell (27-ball 45 not out with 2 fours and 4 sixes) in the end that KKR managed to post 154/6. KKR stands at 5th spot currently.
