India captain Virat Kohli recently referred to criticisms as ‘outside talk nonsense’.
Virat Kohli is known for his straight forward words and once again he did the same. At the virtual press conference on the eve of the first ODI against England in Pune, he responded to criticism in his own style as well.
He said, “From the first to the last day of my career, all this outside talk has been nonsense to me. Who says what and why about a player, what’s the motive behind it, what’s the thinking behind it, it’s better that all that remains outside because we’re not going to let it enter our system even in the future. We are going to back our players and try and give them a good mental space.”
However, former India player Sanjay Majrekar didn’t like it and he shared a tweet and shared his views on this matter. He tweeted, “Outside talk which Virat calls nonsense is basically public reacting to a public performance. And it’s always been the same- Praise when you do well, critique when you don’t. Virat must learn to accept this age old reality with calmness & maturity. Just like Dhoni did.”
“They have been amazing for us in the past few years” – Virat Kohli on Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan
On the other hand, India captain Virat Kohli has revealed the opening pair of India in ODIs – Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan, who was dropped from the squad after the first T20I, would return to his usual opening slot along with Rohit Sharma in the first ODI against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, India captain Virat Kohli confirmed on Monday.
India used as many as four opening combinations in the recently-concluded five-match T20 International series against England. But they didn’t get the desired result in any of them apart from the final one where Kohli and Sharma opened and laid the winning foundation.
“As far as the opening partnership is concerned, Shikhar and Rohit will definitely start. When it comes to ODI cricket, I don’t think there is any issue or doubt over Rohit or Shikhar opening together. They have been amazing for us in the past few years,” said Virat Kohli while speaking to the media in the pre-match media interaction.
However, Team India will play the IPL and then they will tour to England for the World Test Championship final in June where India take on New Zealand. Later this year, India will host T20 World Cup as well.
