Rajasthan Royals’ newly appointed captain Sanju Samson has done an unbelieveable thing.

We have often seen some things happen on the field of cricket, including the Indian Premier League. And, now another interesting moment was seen on Monday during the game between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Both captains KL Rahul and Sanju Samson went in the middle for the toss just before the game and it was Sanju Samson who won the toss in his first match as captain of Rajasthan Royals. As it is his first match as captain in IPL, the 26-year-old swashbuckling batsman took the coin and put it in his pocket, likely to keep it as the memento for his first match as RR captain.

However, the incident was surprising to another captain KL Rahul too who was looked puzzled in the middle.

Here is the video of toss where Sanju Samson was involved in that incident:

It is also noteworthy that, Sanju Samson has become the sixth captain to captain Rajasthan Royals in the history of the cash-rich league. After the franchise let go of Steve Smith prior to the mini-auction of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman was named the new captain of the team ahead of the players like Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes as well.

However, Samson has led teams before too as he has captained his state team earlier. However, it will be interesting to see how this young captain performs in the league with a star-studded side.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals’ Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara has recently praised Samson and Rahul Tewatia. Sangakkara, who joined the franchise this season, was quite impressed seeing the talent there. He also said that both Samson and Tewatia can do well on the big stage as well.

“The pressure is always there, you can try and forget about it. But the reality is I think Sanju and all the players will always tell you that the expectation and pressure are always there. There are various coping mechanisms and little techniques you used to deal with them to let you focus at the moment. It is really important to have that grand ambition of playing regular international cricket,” Kumar Sangakkara said during a virtual press conference on Sunday.
